I was born into the world some time ago with no knowledge of streaming services, smartphones, or photography... and, I’m telling you, I didn’t know what I was missing!!
Now, I’m a photographer and creative soul with an unbreakable sense of humor. My camera is my passion in life and an inherent part of my being. It’s true.. I love photography. Sad are the times I’ve been without a camera.
As a kid there were occasions I would be out with friends and I’d borrow their camera a moment to photograph something I found interesting. Maybe it was a friendly dog sitting nearby, or a person smoking a cigarette on a park bench oblivious to my presence.. Maybe a tattered storefront because I liked the texture of its facade. I’d immediately give the camera back after taking a picture or two. Eventually the weeks would pass and I’d forget about those moments until a friend, the owner of the camera I’d borrowed, would happen upon the picture I’d taken and decide to call me. They’d compliment me on the photo and advise that I get myself a camera of my own and shoot more. I’d think it was just general kindness and set the notion aside. Ultimately, hearing this advice repeatedly it had sunk in… and I found a love that would never fade.
There isn’t a passing day I don’t think about photography. Full-time jobs may come and they may go, but my art is a constant. Creating images and sharing my inner thoughts about the moment I’ve captured is a beloved penchant of mine. To me, the photographic craft is about sharing your gift as well as your perspective while also being open to the artful perspectives around you. If you don’t appreciate others, can you truly feel appreciated?
I’m so often behind the camera, I sometimes find it a little challenging to be in front of it myself. Even so, here you’ll find a few photos of me.
I don’t know where to look..
My wife took this picture of me, and I thought I’d try to appear pensive and nonchalant all at once. I’m not sure I pulled it off.
Popping The Cork
A photo from our wedding, one of the happiest days of our life together. This shot was taken by our photographer for the day, my good friend Jeremy Nottingham.
